SOUTH AFRICA--B&I supply turnkey solutions and professional equipment to well known institutions in the broadcast and production fraternities, as well as terrestrial, satellite, microwave, radio and TV transmission systems and stations, and was awarded the contract to build, furbish, install and commission thirty six community radio stations across the country for the Department of Communications.
LESOTHO--B&I has been involved in the upgrading of the FM transmission network for the Lesotho National Broadcasting Service for the last couple of years. This included the supply and erection of a solar powered FM transmitter station on Popa mountain near Mokhotlong. Due to the inaccessibility of the terrain, helicopters and donkeys were required to lift a 20M container, 72 solar panels and 24 2V solar batteries, solar steel frame, 30M mast, two 300W transmitters, receivers, antennas, security fence, construction material and test equipment up the mountain.
SWAZI TELEVISION AUTHORITY--B&I is involved in the upgrading of the TV network for Swaziland Television Authority. This includes the replacing of old transmitters with those of DB Elettronica Telecommunicazioni (DB). B&I is directly involved with the supply, installation and commissioning of two new transmitter stations, a microwave signal distribution network, a telemetry monitoring and control network, all DB equipment. B&I originally installed and commissioned the original equipment, and was again contracted for the Swazi TV upgrade .
ZAMBIA--Since the inception of Radio Phoenix in Lusaka, Zambia, in 1995, B&I was responsible for the planning, design, installation and maintenance of their FM transmission network. Recently the network was extended into the copperbelt on the DRC border. Recently Radio Manu joined our list of turnkey solution customers with the building and installation of their on-air, production and transmission station.
BOTSWANA--B&I installed a TCI medium wave antenna for Radio Botswana at Shakawe in the northern part of Botswana near the Namibian border. The soil conditions in this part of the world made it very difficult for the foundation holes to be excavated. However, the project was completed in record time. B&I has been given the go ahead of the supply of fifteen TVRO satellite systems.
